The Temba Bavuma Foundation (TBF), established in 2016 by South African cricketer Temba Bavuma, is dedicated to empowering underprivileged youth through education and cricket. Rooted in five core values - Access, Mentorship, Excellence, Growth, and Change - the Foundation aims to foster holistic development for young people.
Key Initiatives and Impact
Education and Scholarships:
The Foundation provides scholarships to deserving students at partner schools, supporting their academic and personal growth. Since inception, several students have benefited, with three graduates from the University of Pretoria.
Cricket Development:
The TBF enhances access to quality cricket facilities and coaching for disadvantaged communities. Through cricket clinics and festivals, the Foundation scouts and nurtures young talent, promoting both sporting excellence and social transformation.
Community Outreach:
Aligning with UN Sustainable Development Goals, TBF conducts initiatives like Blanket Drives, Stationery Drives, and food relief efforts, impacting thousands of vulnerable individuals.
Leadership and Mentorship:
Events like the Brotherhood Brunch cultivate emotional resilience and community belonging among young boys, while mentorship programmes guide youths toward success.
Social and Gender Equity:
Collaborations with shelters and special initiatives like the Dignity Pack drive empower women and girls, supporting their education and personal dignity.
