The day was filled with energy and purpose as learners received stationery packs, netball kits, and sanitary pads—each item symbolizing dignity, confidence, and support. Engaging with Grade 3 and Grade 6 learners was a highlight, their enthusiasm and vibrant spirit reflecting the promise of brighter futures. The Temba Bavuma Foundation (TBF) delivers meaningful social impact through community-focused initiatives aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Its COVID-19 relief efforts supported families with essential food, hygiene items, and learning materials. Programmes for vulnerable women and children offer skills development, educational support, and safe spaces for growth. Annual initiatives such as the Blanket Drive and Dignity Pack Series provide warmth, comfort, and essential hygiene products, while the Project Run sneaker initiative equips learners with quality footwear. ANNUAL CHARITY GOLF DAY
The Temba Bavuma Foundation proudly hosts the annual Charity Golf Day, a flagship fundraising event designed to build our endowment fund and ensure the long-term sustainability of our programmes. This initiative unites industry leaders, partners, athletes, philanthropists, and passionate golfers in support of a common purpose. On 6 November, the Foundation became the beneficiary of the 3rd Annual Charity Golf Day. Every swing contributes to empowering scholars from disadvantaged backgrounds, helping them unlock their full potential through education and sport.
cricket development milestones
In 2025, the Temba Bavuma Foundation celebrated key milestones in its cricket development journey. The U15 Empowered Bavuma Festival introduced a girls’ division, expanding opportunities and visibility for women in the sport. At the prestigious St David’s Marist Inanda U12 Festival, TBF proudly fielded a new team drawn from disadvantaged communities, showcasing raw talent and resilience on a national stage. Looking ahead, preparations are underway for the High Performance Programme, a bold initiative designed to nurture elite Black African batting talent. This programme will provide world-class coaching, performance tools, and international exposure, building a deliberate pipeline for future stars.
frida hartley shelter renovation
On 13 September 2025, the Temba Bavuma Foundation, in partnership with Betway Cares, proudly unveiled the newly renovated Frida Hartley Shelter for Women and Children. More than a physical upgrade, this milestone reflects a renewed commitment to dignity, safety, and opportunity. The project strengthens our advocacy for gender equality, ensuring vulnerable women and children have the security and support needed to rebuild their lives with hope and confidence.
Brotherhood Brunch
On 18 October 2025, the Temba Bavuma Foundation hosted its inaugural Brotherhood Brunch at Steyn City-Guild Hall, supported by Betway Cares. This uplifting gathering created a safe, affirming space for young boys from diverse communities to connect through mentorship, storytelling, and reflection. The event fostered identity, self-worth, resilience, and belonging, marking a bold step in TBF’s mission to nurture future leaders beyond sport and education. More than a brunch, it symbolised dignity, reminding us that every young person deserves to be seen, heard, and valued. The Brotherhood Brunch is set to become a cornerstone of youth development.
Social Impact
Beyond education and sport, the Foundation is deeply committed to uplifting vulnerable communities through targeted social programmes. Guided by the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, TBF focuses on poverty alleviation, health, education, and reducing inequalities.
Community Outreach:
Initiatives include blanket drives, stationery distributions, food parcel deliveries, and shoe donation campaigns. For example, in 2023, 250 pairs of sneakers were donated to pupils at Realogile High School, and 400 dignity packs were distributed to high school girls in Alexandra.
COVID-19 Relief:
During the pandemic, TBF distributed over 2,400 food parcels and 6,250 kilograms of maize meal to families in need, partnering with organizations like One People Fund and PPC.
Supporting Women & Children:
The Foundation has a long-term partnership with the Frida Hartley Shelter, empowering homeless women through education, skills development, and community food drives. In 2025, TBF and Betway Cares launched the renovated Shelter, restoring dignity and safety for vulnerable women and children.
